Former SACRIFICE Manager In Critical Condition After Suffering Burst Aneurysm
November 20, 2007The following announcement comes from Paula Danylevich of Hype Music:
"[Toronto-based heavy metal personality] Ray 'Black Metal' Wallace has had a serious medical emergency.
"Many of you know Ray personally or professionally from his long-time involvement in the music and entertainment industry. He managed SACRIFICE in the '80s/'90s and still runs Black Metal Management, most recently working with SCARLET SINS. He is also a local promoter, most recently booking original bands in on Thursdays at Rock & Roll Heaven. Earlier this year, he coordinated the original Rock 'N' Roll Heaven reunion party at Rok Boutique.
"I spoke with Ray's mother at 11am this morning and here are the details:
"Ray had been complaining of an ongoing headache for a week that wouldn't go away; would not see his doctor because they were only open during the time Ray was at work. He collapsed at his home early Thursday morning. His mother found him on the floor of his room unable to get up or move. He was however able to call out his mother's name, but with great difficulty, yet otherwise was unable to speak.
"911 was immediately called. Paramedics arrived quickly. He was barely able to say his name when asked, and by now his speech was slurred and he was unable to communicate. They rushed him to Centennial Hospital in Scarborough; his condition was deemed too critical for their facility, and he was transferred immediately to Toronto Western where they did surgery on Thursday evening.
"An aneurysm located on the top of his head, just back of the hairline, had burst. He is currently in an induced coma to aid the healing and control ongoing mini seizures and a fever. Ray is in critical condition. Doctors at this point in time do not know the extent of the damage that has been caused, however he is having ongoing CT scans and other medical tests. Although there is no way of telling at this point, Ray's doctors have told his parents that his chances of surviving are better than most due to their ability to get medical help quickly.
"Ray is 43 years old."
